Georgia's Presidential Primary Set for Super Tuesday
Georgia's Presidential Primary Election will be held Tuesday, March, 6, 2012, also known as Super Tuesday.
Secretary of State Brian Kemp made the announcement at a news conference Thursday, Sept. 29. Legislation passed by the General Assembly this year gave him the authority to set the date.
Georgia joins Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia, among other states, which have all set primaries for Super Tuesday.
Kemp said the decision protects the interests of Georgia voters.
"We ensure that the voices of Georgia voters are heard and that they will be relevant in the presidential nominating process," Kemp said during the news conference.
He also urged all presidential nominees to visit Georgia and its 76 delegates.
